Spring Is In The Air….

talyllynsmall

Today i decided to go for a walk, the weather has been very pleasant with clear blue skies although very cold still, I walked around Tal-y-llyn Lake on the look out for some babys and maybe a little early spring lambs. There is a quite a few now and with a little patience, a long lens and sitting in a field for an hour or so i got quite a few good images. I have converted a few of these to black and white to make them a little more interesting.

The area is still quite probably due to weather issues but i am sure as the weather improves more and more people will come to visit this amazing part of Wales……….!!

The Snow Is Still Here In Tal-y-llyn

If you’re planning to climb cader during while the snow is down please please be careful……..!!

It snowed around 4 days ago heavy here in Tal-y-llyn, just for a few hours during the evening, looks great doesn’t it. The roads are nice and clear thanks to the council gritters we didn’t get much chaos on the roads, it hasn’t snowed since but as the temperature isn’t rising above freezing the snow just isn’t melting. I guess the weather is keeping some visitors away, but some folks are still going up Cader, what a wonderful site that must be, although the walk would be far more dangerous for the not so competent walkers.

This is the  first time in around 9 years that i have seen Tal-y-llyn lake frozen over, as can been seen in my photos.

Winter In Tal-y-llyn

Winter months in Tal-y-llyn are very quiet, most of the visitors and tourist have gone, apart from the serious hardcore walkers / climbers who like to see cader idris in different conditions, this is why my post have been rather thin on the ground just latley.

The local farmers are however kept busy tendering their livestock and land in these harsh wintery conditions here in the valley

Myself i have been kept busy working hard as usual, the hotel industry still keeps going regardless of the time of year or however bad the weather is outside.

Surprisingly we haven’t seen that much snow here in the valley which has kept the main roads through clear without to many hold up. Here are a few pictures i have taken of the area with a light dusting of the white stuff.

This is my last post of 2009, heres hoping the site proves to keep being a usefull resource of information for visitors to the area during 2010 if you would like to contribute then feel free to contact me.
